'Besotted by heroic myths of leadership, the world seems full of people who imagine they are charismatic visionaries, whereas everyone else simply sees boring men and women in suits' (Tourish & Barge, 2010)

Leadership development is so much more than helping you find your style, being taught, or learning a series of processes to achieve specific outcomes that are often associated with inconsistent and short-lived rewards.

Development from our perspective is about helping you to grow, it's about paying rather than seeking attention, without the emphasis on creating followers but leading consistently in the here and now.

Organisations place significant emphasis on the effectiveness of management; however leadership is quite a different field. Leading can often mean making the best decisions possible at a specific time with the information you have available however an important element we need to consider here is the intent with which we take specific action. It is often the intent with which we take action that adds the leadership element to our effective managerial decision making.

Leaders often need to be courageous in the actions they take which can make them vulnerable to failure or considered by their peers to be getting it wrong. Putting yourself out there, making yourself vulnerable and not claiming to be right but with the intent of making a positive contribution is what leadership should be about. That's our take on it anyway and we know we're not alone.

As organisations become proficient at the selection, recruitment, and retention of exceptional managers; many strive to assume the same level of control over leadership introducing ‘steps’ and ‘styles’ designed to inform and propel them towards strategically desired and intended outcomes, however, Not everything that matters can be measured, not everything that can be measured matters’.

We all need to understand leadership better, what it is, how it is created, and how we can allow it to flourish alongside our management skills which need to become even more abstract in the Post-COVID-19 world we now live in.

We'll look to help you develop your leadership approach to complement your managerial skill set and can support you in your journey to positively influence your day-to-day challenges.
